PS: If you want to do your eyes justice, this post would be better viewed from a computer, along with a comfy set of earphones.

BALESTIER ROAD
Balestier Road is quite a bit of a food town. A bulk of the hawker stores that used to be situated in the former Long House have shifted to Whampoa Makan place, further down Balestier Road.
The infrastructure in Balestier speaks a great deal for itself. Largely untouched in this ultra developed city, it brings us back to the older days of Singapore. Peeping into the car park, I knew that it was going to be rewarding for some shots inside.
The thrilling part came along when the alleys caught our eyes.
I tried to come up with qualities that my Utopia would posses, but for every quality I came up with, it meant both a blessing and a complete disaster. A place where fear does not exist, where people chase their dreams without hesitation. Sounds pretty frightening as you explore it from all angles.
I was once on a pursuit to look.. ideal. It became enervating after time, as I questioned myself, "Why do I try so hard that it scares me sometimes?". You know the days where you see the need to correct your face to perfection and shortly after, you become disgusted at the amount of products you have smacked onto your face.
There will always be a time where you struggle with the way you look. If it can be changed, change it. Have a healthier lifestyle, work your body out.
But rather than to be consistently absorbing the ugly side of negativity that we cannot amend, why don't we take small steps to channel our vision outwards? Stop bashing yourself in the mirror because you are missing out. The humble creations surrounding you deserves better appreciation.
As I began to explore places with my friends, get in touch with nature, I subconsciously freed myself from the pain I was fighting- The butterfly represents my soul. The shadow is simply your actions. You could either be your own victim or hero.
From expired films and plastic cameras to new films and a proper manual camera, I am now able to capture still motions in a different way. The difference in quality is astonishing, something you realise when you compare your photos with your previous albums. The down side? The manual cameras, at least for mine, is heavy. The light plastic cameras allows you to bring it out at all times, allowing for more spontaneous shots! It's a give and take!
On a Saturday morning, I embarked on an adventure with my like-minded pal, Cindy, whom I met through the restaurant I used to work in this year. Travelling with people of like minds make trying out fresh ideas a lot easier! Imagine exploring weird camera angles and asking a friend who is not comfortable with posing to give an indignant or fearful expression behind your lens. All I can be certain is that they will present you a puzzled face which screams, "HUH??"
Beneath is my video take on Istana Woodneuk. It is not a sorrowful one. Happiness is not just characterised by confetti, loud music and ecstatic faces. Witnessing infrastructure that has passed the test of time in its most vulnerable state is beauty.

Till then, wishing all mothers out there a happy mother's day! Sometimes it may take you up to nearly two decades only for your child to emanate greater appreciation and affection for you.
